I am currently a Research Fellow at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI, Abu Dhabi, UAE) working with Dr. Hang Dai and Prof. Ling Shao. Before that, I was working as a joint Mitacs Postdoc Fellow in the Department of Computing Science (Prof. Martin Jagersand) and the Department of Radiology & Diagnostic Imaging (Prof. Kumaradevan Punithakumar) at University of Alberta from Mar. 2020 to Mar. 2021. I obtained my PhD degree from the the Department of Computing Science at University of Alberta, supervisored by Prof. Martin Jagersand, in Feb. 2020. I achieved my M.Sc. degree from the Institute of Remote Sensing & Geographical Information System, Peking University China in Jul. 2015, supervised by Prof. Min Sun and Prof. Qiming Qin. I obtained my B.Eng. degree from the School of Information Sciences and Technology at Shandong Agricultural University China in Jul. 2012.
My current research focus is highly accurate image segmentation, of which the final goal is to enable the “safe” and “efficient” interactions between the machines and the real-world entities. My general research interests cover wide areas across computer vision, machine learning and artificial intelligence including semi-automatic image labeling, edge and object detection, perceptual grouping, high degree-of-freedom visual tracking, image registration as well as their applications in augmented reality (AR), 3D reconstruction, SLAM, robotics, medical image processing, photogrammetry, and remote sensing, etc.
